Title: Climate Change, Waste Biorefinery and Green Society: A Swedish perspective

Abstract:

Greenhouse gas emissions and climate change is a serious challenge to human society in the world. The result in rapid changes in climates and more often and more serious natural disasters. On the other hand, our resources oil, phosphorus, etc. are limited. Developing circular economy and green society, resource recovery and zero wastes and using renewable fuels and energy and materials are solution to these challenges.

Sweden has a goal to become fossil free in 2050. But, the question is how? In this talk, the current practices in this field in national scale, the goals for the future and the research at University of Borås on biorefineries and converting wastes to value added products are discussed.

A Brief Introduction to the Speaker:

Prof. Mohammad J. Taherzadeh is the director of research school of resource recovery at the University of Borås, Sweden. His researches are mainly focused on bio-fuel, environmental biotechnology, and the recycling and re-utilization of organic waste resources. So far, Prof. Mohammad J. Taherzadeh has published 3 book, 18 book chapters, 5 patents, and more than 200 papers in scientific journals. Among them, 50 of the papers were published in the top journals like Bioresources Technology, Energy, AEM. Meanwhile, Prof. Mohammad J. Taherzadeh is also the editor of Bioresource Technology. His seminar will focused on the current practice of Sweden to deal will greenhouse gas emission and climate change.
