Prof. Peter J. Stang, the chief editor of the "Journal of the American Chemical Society”(JACS),is an internationally recognized scientist of the department of chemistry in the university of Utah.He is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences,a foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.He has received various kinds of awardssuch likeAmerican National Medal of Science, F. A. Cotton Medal for Excellence in Chemical Research, Priestly Medal, Linus Pauling Medal from ACS, FredBasolo Medal for Outstanding Research in Inorganic Chemistry. Besides, he was also honored with the ChineseInternational cooperation award, Chinese government friendship award and many other international famous awards.
Prof. Peter J. Stang received his bachelor's degree from DePaul University in Chicago in 1963, then he obtained his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley in 1966, after that, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Princeton University from 1967 to 1968, he joined the university of Utah in 1969 and has been buried in supramolecular chemistry and metal organic chemistrythere until now, making great contribution to the development of this area.So far he has more than 600 scientific publications in many famous Academic journals including Nature, Nature Chemistry, JACS, which has been cited more than 27,900 times,he also has a number of patents which produced important influence on the field of chemistry.
