Content：1.We summary current climate models that use off-line aridity/drought indices over global terrestrial environments.

　　　　2.We explicitly show the impacts of ignoring the CO₂ effect in assessing climate projection using off-line impact models across 16 Coupled-Model-Intercomparison-Project-Phase-5 (CMIP5) models.

    　　　3. We offer an effective, physically-based yet relatively simple way to account for vegetation response to elevated CO₂ in off-line impact models．
