Professor Flury Markus is a professor of crop and soil sciences at Washington state university and an internationally renowned soil scientist. Research area include Water and solute transport in the vadose zone, colloid and colloid-faciltated transport in the vadose zone, sorption mechanisms of organic solutes and its effects on transport, lateral dispersion mechanisms, dye tracers for vadose zone hydrology, interpretation development of soil physical measurement techniques, importance of soils for civilizations. Chief editor or deputy chief editor of several important international journals on soil science, include Vadose Zone Journal,Water Resources Research,Journal of Environmental Quality.
