　　报告摘要 (Summary)

　　This presentation provides an overview of current veterinary anesthesia and anesthetic techniques in Canada, for both small and large animals. A brief introduction to pre-anesthetic patient preparation, administration of local anesthetics, sedatives, induction drugs and inhalant anesthetics, monitoring patients under general anesthesia, as well as post-operative patient care and pain prevention, is provided. This presentation will be given mostly in English with some basic spoken Chinese and is suitable for undergraduates as well as post-graduates.

　　报告人简介：

　　Dr. Pauline Chow (周培琳), pictured here with her dog “Waggle”, is a Veterinarian and Professor of Veterinary Technology, at Douglas College near Vancouver, BC, Canada.  She studied Zoology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, before obtaining her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan, SK, Canada. She has been practicing small animal medicine for 29 years, and teaching at Douglas College for 12 years.
