Recently, the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council officially announced the "Notice on the Release of the List of Academic Degree Authorization Units for the Dynamic Adjustment , Revocation and Increase of 2018”,College of Humanities successfully added the doctoral degree of the first-level discipline of sociology, becoming the first doctoral degree unit of the first-level discipline of the College, marking a breakthrough in the discipline construction of the College.

　　The successful addition of the doctoral degree in the first-level discipline of sociology is a strategic layout for the university to plan the construction of new liberal arts at a high level and a high starting point, to promote the prosperity and development of philosophy and social sciences in an all-round way, and to lay a solid humanistic foundation for the construction of the world-class agricultural university. It is also an important achievement of College of Humanities, which takes the discipline construction as the lead, comprehensively promotes the construction of sociology, law, public service management, special history (agricultural history) and other disciplines. It embodies the perspiration and hardship of the teachers and students from the College who have worked tirelessly for many years, and has a milestone significance in the course of discipline construction and development.

　　In recent years, the teacher resources of sociology discipline, the level of teachers' scientific research and the influence of the subject social services of College of Humanities have been greatly enhanced, which is equipped with the research center for Collaborative Innovation of Rural Governance and Social Construction in Shaanxi Province, the Social Survey and Data Analysis Laboratory and other research platforms, and an off-campus practice base has also been established.The construction of new liberal arts has achieved remarkable results, having a good foundation for the construction and development of doctoral degree programs. The teachers and students of College of Humanities will take this doctoral degree addition as an opportunity to strictly follow the construction requirements of the doctoral first-level discipline award unit, scientifically propose the discipline development work plan, actively implement the research platform development support plan and research project cultivation plan to ensure the quality of degree granting, comprehensively promote the connotative development of the discipline, further enhance the strength of the College and serve the university's first-class undergraduate talent cultivation and "double first-class” construction.
