On April 1, Education Dialogue of China - U.S. Agriculture Roundtable sponsored by United States Heartland China Association (USHCA) was held online. Professor Zhao Minjuan, Vice President of NWAFU, was invited to attend the special session of agricultural education leaders and made a keynote address on behalf of the university.
The theme of the forum is Food System Transformation and Climate Change. The participants had in-depth discussions on topics including the prospects of cooperation in agricultural education, Chinese and American universities’ challenges in jointly promoting the transformation of food systems and coping with climate change.
Established in 2003, United States Heartland China Association (USHCA), is a non-profit organizationaiming at advancing communication and cooperation between China and the United States (especially the heartland of the United States) inculture, education and economy, so as to deepen cooperation and mutual trust and contribute to sound development of China-U.S. relations.
The convening of China - U.S. Agriculture Roundtable is also a tribute to agricultural scientists and researchers who have made outstanding contributions to agriculture and global food security — Mr. Norman Borlaug, father of the Green Revolution and Nobel Peace Prize winner. Mr. Yuan Longping, father of hybrid rice and winner of the World Food Prize. Mr. George Washington Carver, an American agricultural scientist and founder.
