On the evening of September the 27th, the awarding ceremony of "The Great Worker---the Most Distinguished Model Worker in Shaanxi since the Founding of New China” and the Gala of New China’s History was held at Shaanxi Radio and Television Theater, which was co-sponsored Propaganda Department of Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee , the Shaanxi Provincial Labor Unions, the Shaanxi Provincial Communist Youth League Committee, and the Shaanxi Provincial Women’s Federation. At the grand ceremony, Mr. Zhao Hongzhang of Northwest A&F University was awarded the most distinguished title of model worker, along with the NWAFU alumni Liang Zengji and Zhang Shuzhen.

Mr. Zhao Hongzhang
Zhao Hongzhang (1918-1994), a native of Qi County, Henan Province, member of the Communist Party of China. He once served as deputy dean of the Northwest Agricultural College and vice chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Association of Science and Technology. The research team led by him presided over the breeding and extension of four batches of epoch-making excellent wheat varieties such as "Biyed No.1”, "Fengchan No.3”, "Daofeng No.3” and "Xinong 881”, with a total planting area of 950 million mu. The increase in wheat production of about 25.6 billion kilograms has profoundly made outstanding contributions to solving the problem of farmers’ living, increasing agricultural production and rural income, and ensuring national food security. In 1950, he was awarded the title of National Model Worker.
Mr. Liang Zengji
Liang Zengji, researcher at Changwu County Agricultural Technology Extension Center. Born in Gaozhou City, Guangdong Province in 1933, he came to Changwu in 1961 as long as he graduated from the Agronomy College of NWAFU. He has successively cultivated 7 innovative varieties, the planted area of which in Changwu took up 80% of the local. It is he that successfully turn the wheat production in Changwu from a low-yield crops with 50.1kg/pu in 1960s to a high-yield crops of up to a one-thousand-jin/pu miracle. In 1987, he won the title of Shaanxi Provincial Model Worker, and 2019 the Seventh National Moral Model.
Mz. Zhang Shuzhen
Zhang Shuzhen, senior agronomist at the tea station in Shangnan County, born in Taikang County, Henan Province in 1937. Since her graduation from the Department of Forestry of NWAFU in 1961, she has been working in the mountainous area of Shangnan for more than 4 decades. She has been fully committed to the introduction and promotion of tea, and realized the transplant of southern tea at Shangnan County and the transformation of the county to a vast tea garden with elegant fragrance. In the reform and industrialization of rural science and technology system, she has made great achievements. In 2005, she was awarded the title of National Model Worker.
