Recently, the National Forestry and Grassland Bureau announced the third batch of 41 national forestry and grassland long-term research bases list.National Long-term Research Base of Northern Shaanxi Temperate Grassland Ecosystemin NWAFU has been approved for construction.

Based on Shenmu Station of the Institute of Soil and Water Conservation of NWAFU, the base conducts an in-depth study of various issues, including coupling mechanism of productivity transformation and material energy cycle in temperate grassland ecologically fragile area,response and adaptation mechanism to interference, which will provide theoretical, data and technical support for similar landscape ecological restoration and reconstruction, ecological function enhancement and ecological barrier construction in the Loess Plateau.
