Recently, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration released the second list of 60 national forestry and grassland long-term scientific research bases, and the Ningxia Yunwushan Grassland Ecosystem National Long-Term Scientific Research Base of NWAFU was among them.
The Ningxia Yunwushan Grassland Ecosystem National Long-Term Scientific Research Base (short for the Yunwushan Base), is located in the Yunwushan National Nature Reserve which is 45 kilometers to the northwest of Yuanzhou District, Guyuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. With the most complete, most primary and biggest local grassland ecosystem, the area is the only grassland ecosystem research base in Loess Plateau. The recent approval will not only boost the University’s investment in the Base, but also support the scientific research, talent training and service demonstration involving the relevant subjects to grassland ecosystems in semi-arid regions.
The establishment of the national forestry and grassland long-term scientific research bases is aimed at strengthening the role of forest-grassland research field bases in conducting scientific studies, commercializing scientific and technological achievements and enhancing public education to popular science, so as to better promote the forestry and grassland construction in China. Up to now, there have been 2 batches of totally 110 long-term scientific research bases all over the country, covering different regions with key and typical ecosystems.
