On May 20, Science Advances , one of the Science family of journals, published the article of Professor Jiang Yu’s team “ The Origin ofDomestication Genes in Goats ” as its cover article. Led by Jiang Yu, the NWAFU’s professor of the College of Animal Science and Technology, the experiments revealed that it is the MUC6 gene gained from hybridizing with other species that brings modern goats a strong broad-spectrum resistance, which together with other domestication genes, makes goats the first and widespread domestic animals. On the same day, Science covered a report titled “ Ancient Hanky Panky Gave Modern Goats Their Iron Stomachs ” on the discovery, stating its interview with Professor Jiang Yu.
