On April 25, Ren Yi, vice president of University of Southern Queensland, visited NWAFU. Luo Jun, vice president of NWAFU, met the delegation and had a discussion. Head from College of Natural Resources and Environment, College of Water Resources and Architectural Engineering, College of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, College of Economics and Management and Office of International Exchange & cooperation attended the meeting.
Luo Jun introduced the history, discipline construction, scientific research, talent cultivation, international exchanges and other aspects of NWAFU, and expressed NWAFU insists on academic exchanges and cooperation with Australian and other universities in the world, and constantly promotes the full implementation of the internationalization strategy. The next step is to enhance cooperation with University of Southern Queensland in terms of symposiums, joint scientific research projects, international cooperation in training innovative talents and short-term overseas visits.
Ren Yi said scientific research and international cooperation priorities of University of South Queensland are highly compatible with those of NWAFU, and fostering cooperation will help to effectively advance academic collaboration and cross-cultural exchanges between China and Australia. It is hoped that the two sides will collaborate in advantageous disciplines and conduct cooperative scientific research and joint school-running projects in the fields of dry farming agricultural engineering, water-saving irrigation, environmental atmosphere and agricultural economy.
After the meeting, Ren Yi visited the Institute of Water-saving Agriculture in Arid Areas of China (WSA) of NWAFU to learn more about its operations and scientific research accomplishments in water-saving irrigation in Arid Areas, and discussed the intention to collaborate with Agricultural Engineering Center of the University of South Queensland.
Founded in 1967, the University of Southern Queensland is a comprehensive public university in Queensland, Australia. It contains 12 colleges, including the College of Agriculture and Environment, College of Engineering, College of Business and Management. The university also boasts a number of the top scientific institutions in Australia, such as the Center for Sustainable Agricultural Systems, the Center for Agricultural Engineering, and the Center for Applied Climate Science. It is an institution of agricultural engineering in Australia and New Zealand.
