  FARMER COMMUNITY SERVICES:

  Citrus Nursery

  Sargodha is also known as California of Pakistan, so there was a dire need of a quality citrus nursery in the region. Based on this need a “certified disease free seedless citrus nursery” is established and large numbers of seedless citrus nursery plants are provided to local farmer community.   

  Apiculture

  Established a set up of honey bees (Apiary) in University College of agriculture. The set up serves a purpose of field laboratory for the demonstration of graduate students and research of post graduate students. Advisory services to the farmer community are also provided for the initiation of honey bee colonies at their farms. The quality pure honey, produced as a product of this set up is also distributed to local community.

  Sugarcane

  Many lines of sugarcane in collaboration with Shakarganj sugar mills are under research trials. Seeds of the lines with higher quantity of sugar contents are also provided to the farmers.

  Wheat

  Research trials on wheat for high yield are conducted and out of these, three lines are sent for variety registration

  Jatropha

  Also named as “Bio-Diesel Plant”, is grown in the form a block and also in few marginal lands. Its future prospectus as alternate to diesel will also be evaluated.

  Established a system of Out Reach Programme

  (Under this programme faculty fellows / research scientists from different departments of the faculty regularly visit the agricultural farms, live stocks and orchards of the farmers in the surrounding area. The scientists identify the problems of farmers and suggest their solutions at their door steps)

  Monthly Agricultural Magazine in Urdu for Farmers

  For the awareness of farmers, a magazine “DOAAB” is published on monthly basis focusing the agricultural issues and their solutions

  Daily Radio Programme for farmers

  A programme “LOK REHTAL” is broadcasted in local language from the University of Sargodha radio for the farmers community in which live calls are received and responded properly

  Satellite Veterinary Clinic

  Medical treatment of livestock is provided to the farmers at Veterinary Clinic at College and also at their door steps. Advisory services are also provided to farmers relating to nutrition of livestock and poultry

  RESEARCH JOURNAL:

  Launched first ever HEC recognised peer reviewed research journal in University of Sargodha named “International Journal of Agriculture and Applied Sciences” as Editor in Chief.
